I drew six dogs yesterday at my booth, from photos.

Cheryl and I started 24 season 4, its not 24 until Jack breaks the rules and shoots somebody. If you watch the show hears a fun game, count the number of times someone says "I think thats a mistake", or "I think your making a mistake". Two episodes into season 4 and Ive counted 4 mistakes.

YATTA! YATTA!

I finished the book, Misquoting Jesus - The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why,by Bart D. Ehrman last night. The church history he goes into was fasinating. The book was not what I excpected though, From an interview I head or NPR I thought he was basicly an athiest, but the book never realy denies the existance of God just the bible being the word of God. I personaly think (even before I read the book) that christians put to mutch fiath in the bible. God has to be bigger than the bible , hes been locked up in that little black book because hes safe in there, you know exactly what he says and salvation and life on earth are an open and shut case. Do you feel like someone could sum up you in a book for now and forever, and this is God we're talkin about . I think the bible has become an Idol.

Andy, your right , you cant get into the BK lounge without coups.

I played hide and go seek with my girls today. I was the designated seeker, and when ever I was finished counting( I picked 25 as the count for no special reason, it just felt like a good count), I would yell ready or not here I come. When we were kids, and by we I mean me and my sister, at the end of the count we would yell " Apples, peaches, pumkin pie, whoevers not ready holler I!" . I thought of that today while playing but my girls are easy to find so I didnt feel right shouting out that old ryme. so I didnt, but it was nice to remember it, I havent thought of that in forever. Next time I'll have to shout it so my kids can learn it and maybe someday remember it also.

I helped in Jacks preschool class today and had a nice time. I worked in a two year old preschool class room over ten years ago and today reminded me of that time and the fun I usedto have with those crazy unpridictable todlers. I played "dow arnound the corner at the bakery shop with a few of them. That was one of my favorites for circle time back in the day, the kids get to pick out a doughnut ( today represented by colored balls) and then you have the kids place the doughtnut on thier head, or eyes or ears, so I geuss they learn colors body parts and desision making cause they get to pick out witch doughnut they whant. Anyway its fun.

The other day I was talking with my Adam Ducrow about geting out to see V For Vendeta (to late) and that started us talking about going to the theater versus waiting for dvd. Ten years ago the Idea of waiting for the home release of a movie I just kind of wanted to see,let alone one I was excited about , didnt even cross my mind. Now movie after movie that I realy want to see comes out and I dont make the time. I'm not gonna use kids as an excuse either because I've got pleanty if sitters avialable, two options in house even. No, I think it just dosnt mean as mutch to me any more wether or not I see a movie on the big screen. It feels like it should mater but it dosnt. I think that feeling is just nastalgia for when it did mater. Lets use Star Wars as an example. I saw TPM in the theater nine times, AOTC TEN times! Last year ROTS, four times, I think. Thats a prety big diference. The mathematical equation is , when new Star Wars movie = 4 , then all other movies = 0 or .5 or something less than 1, got it?

Loredana Emma Jack and I went to the "park" today. Our housing development has a grassy area with some concrete benches that is suposto be a park anyway. We played red light Green light ( and with my kids generation the addition of yellow light), a rock thowing game Loredana made up and duck duck goose.Jack liked duck duck goose alot. Tommy drove by and offerd to pick us up McDonalds so after we got home I set up the super slide and we had lunch outside. We stayed outside from about 11:30 till 2:00 , nice. There wont be many more days we'll be able to stay out that long .

My Aunt Sharon and Uncle Bill are in town for Ashlea's quincillero, Its always nice to get to talk with them. Speaking of ceen-sin-yero that was a crazzy cool 15 year olds birthday. I wasnt 100% down with the ceremony but the party rocked. I was prety damn jealous of the dance floor packed with teanagers, That just never happend when I was a teen. Any dancing that went on when I was that age was slow dancing , but they have some really great dance music nowadays. I have to say Emma and Jack were the best dancers out there. Check Jack out in that suit! Loredana and Emma were beautiful, as always.

Andy called me this morning to tell me Ovid Adams had passed away on Monday. I worked with Ovid at the Excalibur drawing caricature from 1998 through 2oo1. When I was still a rookie artist I drew a caricature of Busta Rymes and I remember Ovid taking offence to it. At the time I just wrote it of as Ovid being a crochety old man. I didn't understand why it would bother him I drew exaggerated pictures of people no matter what race they where, but I wasn't raising a family in the 60s at the height of the civil rights movement, Ovid was. After a year or so Ovid warmed up to me and I relay enjoyed working with him. One day he had a package from his ex- wife , some of his old drawings she had fond and sent to him. There was a Black Panthers comic he had drawn about Some white guy who had done something horrible to some black people and they hunted him down and shot him. Ovid was kind of embarrassed to show it to me but it relay put into perspective for me where he had been and seen in his life. He told me about the time a soldier pointed a rifle at him during a demonstration, he was holding his infant son at the time. There is no way, NO WAY I could ever truly understand his point of view, but I never thought of him negatively after that, I only ever had respect for him. He was a big ol softy now but he had to pass though rough stuff to get there. The last time I saw him was at first Friday in January at the caricature show , We said the standard hellos and how's the familys and shook hands. He had a great hand shake. I will always remember Ovid he did things in the caricature booth I only dream of, like ripping up a picture of a kid he was drawing in front of the parents face because the kid was jumping around so much that he fell off the bench and started crying, well Ovid had had enough and rriiip. People loved his drawings, If you've worked with Ovid the you know what its like to have people lined up behind him while you sit and pick your nose. They would rather wait for Ovid and wait they would because he was never in a rush. I was thinking that Ovid probably worked last week and some one got the last drawing he ever did, they will probably keep it forever. So Ovid if your on the internet in heaven hear is the first and only drawing I did of you. Respect.

I updated my display at my booth today I think it looks better. At least it looks like a Caricature booth I hhope. It takes me a few weeks after I change some thing to be able to see if it sucks or not so hopefuly in a couple of weeks it wont compleatly suck. I already have something I want to add to it though, make that two things.

This morning it was crazy windy so I told Emma we could fly kites after school, after school no wind.

Tommys brain trainin too.

Jake and Gabriel were helping me cary some frames to the trash and Jake asked if they could break them since I was throwing them away. I told them shure and they went nuts trying to break the crapy frames. Gabriel threw his on the ground and the card bord came out of the back(there was no glass in eather of them) so he tryed to "break" the cardbord. Jake eventualy broke his crapy little wooden frame and then made shure he "broke" the paper that was inside too. Im not shure what those quotations are all about. Breaking stuf is fun.

Nintendo will rule the world, or at least change who and the way we play games. I picked up Brain Age trian your brain in minutes a day, at game crazy today. The guy behind the counter told me they where flying off the shelves. At twenty bucks and a fresh new gaming idea,Im not surpized. Cheryl has a file on the game and she beat me in a couple of the trianing chalenges, so I'm shure she will be playing some more. The basic idea is at Twenty years old your brain is at its peak and its weakens from there. Brain Age has several brain training games with mathmatics and memorization to work out your brian. Then there is the Brain Age test that places your brains age somewhere between twenty and eighty. It tracks your progres daily and graphs it . And its got sudoku! My curent brian age? 68.

I was cleaning out the car today, after getting home from easter dinner at the Warnes, and a bird schreached from what sounded like the roof of my house. I turned and looked up at the roof but I didnt see anything. Then as I turned back to continue to the car my perifriel vision caught a flash of green. So I turned back around and there was some kind of small green parot like bird clinging to the side of the house. I went back inside and grabed Loredana so she could she it.I stood in the rocks holding Loredana and we watched this poor lost bird use its beak and "sharp tallons" to climb up the side of the house. I figured it must be injured because it looked realy hard to climb up the stucco in that way but when the bird reached a bit of molding that put it cind of upsidedown it lost its grip and flew away. Wierd.

Mark, Mary, and Jaden Towns cam over for Avery's second birthday, always nice to see the Townses. Mark told me a story about his elderly niebor trying to get him to join a prepaid legal services pyramid. He imitated the women's minisotan accent and I'm prety shure if I ever met this woman she would sound exactly like the way Mark did her. He should get a show on the strip, One thousand and one voices of M.E. Towns.

Yesterday I was reading an article in EGM about the new DS game coming out called Brain Age: train your brain in minutes a day and they had some sample puzzles to try. So I tried Sudoku for the first time and I realy liked it. It dosnt realy make sence how happy figuring out where some nubers go, can make me. I finished the one from the article and was jonesing for more so when I got home I raided Kenny's news paper pile and got the sudoku from the comics section. Crap! it is way hard! It was still fun to try and I havent given up but I might need to go online and get some stratagies, cause I geuss I'm no good will.

Sooo.. We did it! we bought a fucking car already! Shit! After literaly five days ,sixteen salesmen, eight dealerships, two walk outs on deals, and a near walk out tonight it is finished. Hows this sound?, last night we drove a Mazda Protege5 we liked it and the sticker on the window said 12,000. So After talking about it with friends and priceing it on the internet we diceded if we could get it for about 10500 that would be fair.I sat down at the barganing table and wrote down 10500 and I shit you not they came back with 14985. FA-REEKS, the true coat was 1900. So I was pissed and was walking but after some more bulshit we got them to 11500 out the door witch is a sales price less than 10500 , whatever I feel like I didnt get ripped and I like the car. Glad thats over. I'd have gone into more detial but I'm being hustled out to watch Survivor.

Ice Age 2 the Letdown. I realy enjoyed the first one (until Jerry pionted out it was the same story as Monsters Inc) but this time the only realy good parts were with the saber tooth squirrel and half of those were in the trailers. None of the characters have any reson to be around each other. I know is just a fun kids movie but the animals would have to have lived through the ice age to reach the melt down, I think an age is a realy long time. Nice fur and water rendering though. The Diego character's face seemed to be remodeled with less detail, weird.

Monday, April 10, 2006

I saw two good movies for the first time tonight, Zanthura and The Big Chill. Not one fart or kick to the junk in Zanthura, probebly the best live action kids movie Ive seen in, oh I dont know, ten years! It was not dumbed down for kids, a little predictable but these days thats prety standard, not every thing can be Lost. The big Chill is one of those movies, you know the one every one has seen, Thats cause its good. Good music, good dialogue, good acting , good weed smokeing, oh and not one single fart or kick in the junk.

It was a nice day today but not nice enough for the infatable super slide Emma has been asking me to set up every day for two weeks. So as a compromise is decided to set up the tent I bought last year and never opened. Set up was simple except for the rain cover ( Kenny helped me with that) The kids played house and I drank a couple of pops in the shade of the porch, thats right this tent has a screened in porch , sweet. Who knows I might even go camping.

McDonalds employee: May I take your order?

Me: I would like two chiken Mcnuget Happy Meals tm

McDonalds employee: Four or six nugets?

Me: Four please

McDonalds employee: Boys or girls?

Me: One boy one girl

McDonalds employee: Apples or french fries?

Me: Uh, french fries.

McDonalds employee: What kind of drink do you want?

Me: (Dont i just get my own drinks?) Uh...

McDonalds employee: Juice or soda?

Me: Oh , uh, soda.

Maybe Im crazy but that was way to dificult. Shouldnt the good ol-fashion unhealthy Happy Meal tm be the default?
If I dont order any apples or juice or gender specifics just give me the default ! What are we headed for....

Me: I would like a cheese burger.

McDonalds employee: Pickles or no pickles?

Me: no Pickles

McDonalds employee: Mustard or no Mustard?

you get the Idea, DEFAULT!

Emma ,Loredana and I walked to school this morning. The girls walked on the short landscaping walls and collected pine cones along the way.My sister drove by on her way to take her kids to school and stopped to say hello. We took our sweet time, I enjoyed it and made a point to myself in my head not to rush the girls along. A couple of time I hurried them but that was when they wanted to back track a ways to reinvestigate something like a broken piece of cinder block. When I was a kid I walked every where. Walking the same paths day after day, you begin to know those paths. You recognize the crack in the wall at the street corner, the sucker some kid dropped in the gutter is still there after a week, here's the fence you keep at least six feet away from because you never know when that big dog is going to come crashing into it, there's that strip of desert where you found some porn( better check again) and there's the spot where you usedto be able to cut across but not any more because of the track homes they put there. Gotta walk more.

Me and Ace .

I cried today. Crying is wierd, Its kind of like throwing up you can feel it comming and even if you want to stop it you cant it just kind of spews out. Jack had trouble breathing last night, all night I was a wreck he would wake up from coughing and he would be weezing. So The usual treatment is Xopenex through a nebulizer and that will hold him for about four hours, but not last night. Last night it only helped for about two hours and not as efectivly as usual. So this moring it was off to the doctors with a sence of dread that he would have to be admitted to the hospital( Loredana was at this same age for the same thing). We got to the doctor and I told the receptionest that Jack was weezing and she came right out with the machine that they use to measure oxegen in your blood. Thankfuly he was at 95, 96 % , but the Doctor wasnt happy with how rough his breathing was so she siad after three treatments if he wasnt noticably better he would be admitted. After the treatments and a Steriod shot we where sent home. Then while i has driving I geuss it was one of those relief crys. all the stress and worry I had that Jack could be seriously sick just leaked out my eyes I geuss. It felt prety good.

Tonight at Emma's gymnastics in the junior high lunch room where it is held, Loredana threw up. After holding her over a trash can so the second wave wouldnt end up on the floor like the first, I headed to the bath room in the back. I was thinking I could use some paper towles to do a rough clean up so there wouldnt be chunks all over the floor. About to go into the bathroom with the picture of a stick person not wearing a dress I noticed a door smack dab in the middle of the boys and girls pottys. Janitorial closet maybe? Hell's yea it was the freakin jack pot. I went to work like I owned the place, I got the sweet ass pro mop and bucket with the Squeze the water out of the mop thingy and those pink chunks where gone like KABLAMO. I only wish I could have found the red saw dust, that would have been the sweetest. Of course Loredana not throwing up at all wouldnt have sucked either.

Monday, April 03, 2006

You Know what sucks?, going to the bathroom and not being able to find the fly opening in your boxers and realizing you put your boxer shorts on backwards that morning.

Tommy Bought me King Long, er Kong for easter, you know because kong is very much the Christ figure and the Empire state building represents the cross and the Bi-planes are the Roman solgers and and Ann Darow Is mary and ,er and . Actualy I dont know anbout all of that But I do Know Kong V T-Rex is Top Thre greatest action sequences ever. I'm not sure why a Giant ape Kicking much dino ass makes me so happy , But it does. It's not a nine inch nails concert until Trent throws a botle of water on the audeince.

Just got back from NIN at the Aladdin. It was a realy good concert except no one told me Henry Rollis had replaced trent Reznor as the NIN front man. Mr. Reznor was all freekin buff and buzzed head. The lights in the show where especialy cool. there was like eight circet bord shaped TV's paced on the stage and above it. I Used Ear plugs for the first time at a concert and It's great. It actualy makes it sound better. Now I'm off to bed and I don't have to fall asleep to the sound of the rinning in my ears, cause it aint there yea!
